Ayodhya meaning/Ayodhya old name
Ayodhya's old name in English was "Awadh" or "Aude", the capital of the princely state of Awadh until 1856, it is still known as the state of Awadh. Ayodhya has been described in the Ramayana as belonging to the ancient Kosala kingdom. Hence it was also called "Kosala".
Often people consider these two to be the same city. Ayodhya ranks among the oldest cities in India and is famous as the birthplace of the adorable Lord Sriram of millions of Indians. Faizabad is also a city which is at a distance of ten kilometres from Ayodhya. The city has the distinction of being the birthplace andworkplace of many literators, poets and freedom fighters. The first day of the Ramayana was the birthplace and workplace of pandit Brahnarayan Chakabst, a great Urdu poet and a lawyer by profession, who had been in the Urdu. An Iranian Sadat Ali Khan, who was appointed subedar of Awadh, was made the first capital of Awadh in 1722 A.D., which was later taken to Lucknow in 1775 A.D. by Nawab Asfudaula, after which Faizabad collapsed. In this fifty years, the Nawabs built many buildings in that capital.Like Lucknow, the city also reminds us of the New period. About the Nawabs of Awadh, if we are in history, we find that they renovated the Hanumangarh temple in Ayodhya and built a Hanuman temple at Aliganj in Lucknow city. Even after the settlers of Faizabad city, Ayodhya was known as the centre of faith among the Hindu masses
because of its religious nature. We can also see it from the perspective that Sadat Ali Khan made Ayodhya the capital of Awadh after Lord Sriram, but as an Iranian, he went about ten kilometres away from the present City of Ayodhya and established it in his Persian tongue in the name of Faizabad , which means something where all are equal. , there is no discrimination. This in a way corresponds to the concept of The Kingdom of Rama described in Sriramcharitmanas composed by Great Poet Goswami Tulsidas. But when he came under the British , he gave Faizabad the status of a district and also made Ramarri Ayodhya under that district. Same arrangement since then till November 2018.
The BJP government of Yogi Adityanath declared Ayodhya city as a district and made Faizabad city its administrative headquarters. By May 2017, Faizabad was a separate municipality in the city and Ayodhya was a separate municipality in the city, which was later merged by the BJP government of the diocese and formed a new municipal body called the Ayodhya Municipal GOD ON EARTH Corporation.
